Mile 239 Report
Salishan Spit north, Siletz Bay
August 8, 2015
Overcast but pleasant day.
Report Details
Overcast but pleasant day. NOBODY on the beach ... but evidence of recent activity (footprints). About 175 people counted across the Siletz on the Taft side (west of Mo's pier) enjoying the beach or attending the sandcastle festival. 8 dogs on that side. Larger crowd east of the pier. Very little debris on the spit ... picked up about 1/2 bag. Some fireworks debris on the bay side left over from the 4th of July, however. A number of driftwood structures ... windbreaks or play houses, I guess. We could have a driftwood architecture contest here!

Not a bad fall day for a walk with our out-of-town visitors, but walking the beach was impossible due to the high tide and big waves, which were reaching the beach grass area and bouncing large pieces of driftwood around.
