Beautiful but breezy day.

Beautiful but breezy day. The beach was covered with millions of Velella velella ("by-the-wind sailors") jellyfish decomposing in the sun. Very little debris but a couple possible tsunami items.

Temperature: 54 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 0.2 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 2. Walking or running: 1. 30+ people on the north side of the Siletz Bay outflow ... many appeared to be agate hunting

Notable Wildlife
150+ harbor seals in their usual resting place on the north tip of the Salishan Spit.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Millions of Velella velella stranded at the high tide line

Not a bad fall day for a walk with our out-of-town visitors, but walking the beach was impossible due to the high tide and big waves, which were reaching the beach grass area and bouncing large pieces of driftwood around.
