A pleasant sunny day after many rainy ones. No harbor seals were present in their usual resting spot at the tip of the Salishan Spit - odd but not unprecedented. Evidence of wet sand very close to the bluffs and houses on the spit.

Temperature: 51 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 4.0 feet.

Number of people: 8. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 7. Other Activities: Bike-riding - 1. Estimated 53 people and 4 dogs on the Taft side of the river ... counted from a distance.
Notable Wildlife
There were NO harbor seals in their usual gathering spot at the tip of the Salishan Spit. This has been observed before; they have always returned to their spot eventually.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Many sea jelly pieces in the wrack line ... but not surprising given that it is winter storm season.

Not a bad fall day for a walk with our out-of-town visitors, but walking the beach was impossible due to the high tide and big waves, which were reaching the beach grass area and bouncing large pieces of driftwood around.
