Mile 235 Report
Gleneden Beach south
December 21, 2024
A very nice winter walk.
Report Details
A very nice winter walk. It was windy and cold with some rain in the areas. The high tides have shifted the sand again placing it very high next to the bluff and rip rap. Thanks to all that keep our stretch of beach so clean. We have to pick up very little litter on our walks.
Conditions
Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate.
Human Activities
Number of people: 15. Number of dogs: 7. Other Activities: One kid wading in the cold large surf. Most everyone was bundled up for wintery weather.
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass. Large logs deposited high on the beach from the high tides. Some logs even noted in/on the rip rap.
Man-made Modifications
Beachgrass planting or removal. The new grasses on the bluff at Lincoln beach Is well established and seems to be holding well even against the king tides.
