Report Details

Nobody was parked on Old Hwy. 101 along this mile except for numerous vehicles at the Lookout. And, this is where all of the people were. It appears as though there is commonly enough activity here to justify having restrooms. No wildlife was observed except for the occasional seagull. The whale previously mentioned wasn't in this mile although there were numerous people in mile 226 observing it. The very erosion resistant basalt of the coastal bluffs along this mile shows very little change between observations. Monitoring of the rockfall NW of the gift shop continues.

Conditions

Temperature: 64 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 4.0 feet.

Human Activities

Humans along mile only at gift shop and lookout at same location. Parking lot was nearly full. Whale(s) was/were being sited to southwest by those at lookout.

Notable Wildlife

Gray whale sighting at lookout, but while lookout is in mile 226, whale was in mile 225.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Small rocks, Wood pieces. Difficult to determine above as only could observe from great distance.
