Mile 226 Report
Otter Crest, State Wayside
September 27, 2024
On a partly cloudy, breezy afternoon, there were no changes, natural or otherwise, noted along or near the shoreline of mile 226.
Report Details
On a partly cloudy, breezy afternoon, there were no changes, natural or otherwise, noted along or near the shoreline of mile 226. There were several vehicles parked at overlooks of the shoreline along Otter Crest Loop and at the Lookout at Otter Crest Wayside but hundreds of feet above the shoreline, with people enjoying the views. Nobody was observed any closer to or on the shoreline. As has been stated previously, the shoreline is virtually inaccessible due to its very steep and resistant basalt cliffs. Access is also difficult from the seaward side due to the very rocky shoreline with only a couple small cobble beaches. The only thing notable about the wildlife today was its absence.
Conditions
Temperature: 64 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Tide Level: 3.75 feet.
Activities
Other Activities: Two vehicles were parked on Otter Crest Loop at the trailhead for access to the area just north of mile 226. Nobody was observed on the shoreline, however, of mile 226.. There were no human activities noted on mile 226, nor any sign of previous human activity..

Mile 226
Otter Crest, State Wayside
Mile 226 continues to see very little human activity due to the difficulty of access because of tall basalt cliffs rising directly out of the ocean with few small pocket beaches.
