Mile 222 Report

June 13, 2012
This was my first survey of mile 222.

This was my first survey of mile 222. Overall, the beach was clean, except for many pieces of foam, and several plastic bottles. I didn't see any signs of recent landscape changes. About 18-20 people and two dogs were out on the beach enjoying the beautiful (if windy) day. There was a dead sea lion high on the beach at whose head someone erected a cross made of driftwood and sea grass.

The beach fire close to vegetation, and somewhat close to access point was the main unusual concern to report, otherwise just the usual concern of trash.

Notable highlights: relatively small landslide at the mile's middle parking lot; large piece of shipping debris; large tree debris (unusual to see large natural or unnatural debris at this mile; the usual trash (though as usual, less than seen at miles 223 and 224 to the north); a bald eagle and barn swallows!
