Very windy day, with some strong gusts -- I watched a crow get blown backward as it tried to take off.
Report Details
Very windy day, with some strong gusts -- I watched a crow get blown backward as it tried to take off. I got sand in my eye (in spite of sunglasses over vision glasses) so I didn't venture too much into the drier areas. The dunes are developing, and most of the driftwood in the high zone is sand-covered. I was hoping to spot some of the "recently publicized" pyrosomes, but no luck; there was not much material of any kind in the recent wrack.(Just realized as I was filing this that my mile number is the same as the new apartment I moved into last month!) :-)
Conditions
Temperature: 63 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 2.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 49. Number of dogs: 10. Walking or running: 39. Playing in surf: 1. Playing in sand: 4. Sitting: 2. Surfing: 3. My counts are ball park -- I may have recounted some and missed others. Most, but not all, of the people were on the south end of the mile near the wayside.

Very few people on the beach; most of them arrived just prior to sunset (which was beautiful).
