Mile 210 Report
Lost Creek Wayside south, Lost Creek
December 27, 2024
It was a very stormy day but since it was so late in the year we wanted to do a survey while the tide was low, regardless of the weather. There was one place where there was recent erosion of the cliff.
Report Details
It was a very stormy day but since it was so late in the year we wanted to do a survey while the tide was low, regardless of the weather. Consequently, there was little wildlife to be seen and very little human activity. Of the 3 people we encountered during our walk, one gentleman was on a run, going into the wind, which we estimated was 25-30 MPH, with brief gusts much higher. That was a hearty soul! There was one place where there was recent erosion of the cliff. We could tell it must've been recent due to the "milkiness" of the water draining the loosened soil. Photo is posted.
Conditions
Temperature: 48 F. Cloud Cover: Rain. Wind Velocity: Storm. Tide Level: 1.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 3. Walking or running: 3.
Notable Wildlife
Due to the storm, there was very little wildlife to be seen. We did see a few gulls in the distance, flying. Too far away to identify.
Driftline Content
The beach was very "clean" due to recent storm and wave activity. We did see a couple drifted logs and one small tree washed up.
Natural Changes
Landslides/major boulder falls.

We have noticed that during the winter storms the sand on the beach moves (presumably offshore) and then is redeposited during spring.
