Report Details

The sand has been moving off the beach exposing many small rocks. There was not much vertebrate wildlife to report but the wrack line was covered with large drifts of hydroids. There was one area, close to the southern border of Mile 210, where boulders had sluffed off the cliff (see photo and end of report.)

Notable Wildlife

There were about 2 dozen Western Gulls in small groups flying low over the beach and water. I heard 1 White-crowned Sparrow in the bluff above the beach. The wrack line was packed with large drifts of hydroids (Cnidarian creatures closely related to anemones and jellies.) I will post photos at the end of this report.

It was a very stormy day but since it was so late in the year we wanted to do a survey while the tide was low, regardless of the weather. There was one place where there was recent erosion of the cliff.
