Beautiful day on miles 200, no wind and blue sky. Few items that I would like to report on. See photos. Will email separately, as my wi-fi is not letting me load them. Fawn, check your email. Would you add to this report please? 1 dead seal about 200 yards south of Patterson State Park entrance, high tide line. Damage to skull, and tail.1 dead bird - gull?3 - egg masses, not sure what they are. 1 - missed the photo op. 1 - large tree with the root wad. Hope people are alert to the fact that it is a moving object with wave action.

Number of people: 8. Number of dogs: 4. Walking or running: 8. New fence in parking lot area to prevent erosion, new pathway created by humans.

Total dead birds: 1.

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Styrofoam. pyrosomes

Natural Changes

Visible retreat of solid bluff. Very few dunes at this time of the year.

It was a minus tide this cloudy morning and I could see a large group of pelicans off in the distance at Alsea Bay.

I was anxious to visit Mile 200 this week to see if there were tar deposits or any struggling birds due to the reported tar substance washing up on Oregon beaches.
