Mile 198 - Beachside State Park to Reynolds Creek - June 6, 2010

Report Details

We removed about 20 lbs of plastics, styrofoam,etc, and reported a dorm sized refrigerator that was on the beach. We reported this to the camprground management at Beachside State Park. The refrigerator had several bullet holes in it and still had some insulation

Number of people: 2. Playing in sand: 2. A parent and child building sand castles. A couple of sets of dog and human tracks from earlier treks on the sand,

Notable Wildlife

Four Western Gulls at the mouth of Beaver Creek.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 2. One was not identifiable. One Herring Gull. No bands or ID marks.

Driftline Content

Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Shells.

Natural Changes

Evidence of flashflood streams entering the beach from recent heavy rain and wind. The beach looked "tattered" with numerous little hummocks and mounds.
