Report Details
Some high surf erosion of dune plants, and regreat of bluff. It is in a signed "closure" area, about midway of the mile. Photos taken. It does not aplp[ear to be major erosion, just noticeable.
Conditions
Temperature: 31 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light.
Human Activities
Number of people: 1. Walking or running: 1. Fresh vehicle tracks along the entire mile to Big Creek and back. No vehicle seen -- area of access must have been north of our mile.
Notable Wildlife
200 sanderlings feeding at ocean edge. One hermit thrush in sand/debris area. lFive scoters in near surf.
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 1. Gull, of unknown subspecies.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Large amounts of larger raxor clam shells, mostly 4-5"
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Shells, Small rocks, Styrofoam, Wood pieces.
Natural Changes
Erosion of vegetated foredune, Visible retreat of solid bluff.
