Report Details

We carried out 50 pounds of litter--mostly Japanese current based. The content was a mix of plastics, styrofoam, and heavier than usual glass content.

Notable Wildlife

15 gulls altogether--4 Ring Billed, 11 Western. Very little kelp or seaweed. Some broken small Dungeness crab shells and Razor clam shells.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Shells, Small rocks, Styrofoam, Wood pieces. Copious amounts of Ocean based debris.

Natural Changes

Erosion of vegetated foredune, Visible retreat of solid bluff. There is a small amount of new vegetation"break off" on the southern end of Beachside campground and shore bluff breakoff on the south shore of Big Creek.
