Mile 197 - San Marine, Tillicum Beach, Tillicum Beach CG - July 21, 2018

Report Details

A gloriously sunny albeit windy day on mile 197, with many people and families enjoying the beach. I saw nothing outstandingly unusual or concerning. I was filling in for a friend (Mudslide) who usually watches this mile. I will continue to monitor until she's able to get back to enjoy it herself!

Temperature: 60 F. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 2.1 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 42. Number of dogs: 17. Walking or running: 15. Playing in surf: 10. Playing in sand: 5. Sitting: 6. Other Activities: kite-flying 6. This mile is adjacent to a large campground at its north end, which was full to capacity on the day I surveyed. There were many people with vans, RVs, trucks, and other vehicles in the campground.

Usual birds, nothing unusual!

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt). Some jellyfish, large with purple centers, and small clear ones

Landslides/major boulder falls, Erosion of vegetated foredune, Visible retreat of solid bluff.
