Mile 197 - San Marine, Tillicum Beach, Tillicum Beach CG - August 20, 2020

Report Details

A beautiful mild, mostly sunny day on the mile. I counted approximately 27 people, including four children and one infant. Seven dogs, two of them leashed. A very low (-1.1) tide, with the damp sand completely clean and the dry sand also just about pristine. A good number of crab carapaces; it looked as if the gulls had had a hearty breakfast. Bright green seaweed also in the drift line, plus the usual sand crabs. At Big Creek on the N end of the mile, a very large flock of gulls was gathered, sitting in the shallows and occasionally finding something to eat in the water. The two large chunks of bluff that started detaching last winter are still standing, much to my amazement. Surely this winter they'll come down...
