Report Details

It was a rainy day but the wind was light. It started in the north but by the time we finished it was from the south. The most interesting thing was all the foam. In some sections the rocky areas near the bluffs were completely covered. We tested the depth with a stick that went down about knee deep. When the wind blew, the foam quivered. There were lots of crows, not many gulls, about 60 Surfbirds, 7 Harlequin Ducks, 14 Surf Scoters, 4 Oystercatchers, 13 Pelicans, 4 Brandt's Cormorants, and 2 Song Sparrows. The tide was too high for the Harbor Seals we usually see on the rocks. And it was raining.

The day was very foggy so we didn't expect to see many birds but were very surprised to see 18 species, which has only happened two other times since 2003.
