Lovely day with a low tide.
Report Details
Lovely day with a low tide. 12 people walking, collecting agates, and tidepooling. Saw second Bald Eagle since 2002. Flock of 13 Whimbrels flew by. 26 Pigeon Guillemots nesting on the bluffs. One couple came on the beach carrying two big containers, one plastic, one metal, went out in the rocky tideline and left them. Collecting crabs was the only thing we could think that they might be doing.

Number of people: 12. Number of dogs: 1. Walking or running: 6. Tidepooling: 2. Two people went out on the rocks in the tide zone and left two containers in the rocks. Collecting crabs? One a large plastic box and the other was a metal mixing bowl. Then they walked off.

13 whimbrels in flock,1 common sandpiper, 9 harlequin ducks, 26 pigeon guillemots, nesting, a starling nesting, 7 barn swallows, 3 violet green swallows, 30 surf scoters, 1 bald eagle (our second since 02) 1 song sparrow. 30 harbor seals several red whelks, Nucella emarginata

Total dead birds: 1. very old carcass

Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). Big long nylon rope and large plastic sheet. Brought them out.

When we arrived in the parking lot it was almost full but people seemed to be leaving.

It was a lovely day but the sand is gone from all but the first part of the beach so the rest is cobbles, making it hard to walk.

A lovely, mainly sunny day without wind.

The day was very foggy so we didn't expect to see many birds but were very surprised to see 18 species, which has only happened two other times since 2003.

A sunny, very windy day that brought out a lot of people to enjoy the beach, mostly staying in the first sandy area.

It was a beautiful clear day and the wind only started up about 3 in the afternoon.

Florence had some rain but when we got to the mile it was just overcast and kept getting brighter.

A lovely day and the summer sand is still there making it easy to walk.
