Report Details

We collected a lot of big chunks of styrofoam in the first two sections of our mile, including a big round cylinder that was about 43" by 20". A park ranger said it was probably from a dock that washed out in the flood on the Siuslaw River this spring. The Pigeon Guillemots were nesting in the sand cliffs. The tide was low, not much wind so the birds were spread out more than usual or farther out in the ocean. We saw 12 species listed earlier in the report.Crows, gulls, BarnSwallows 3 ,Cliff Swallows 6, Pigeon Guillemot (nesting) 5, Harlequin Ducks 3, Great Blue Heron 1, Pelagic Cormorants 3, Brandt's Cormorants 3, Starling 1, Song Sparrows 2, Red Winged Blackbird 1, Harbor Seals 13.
