Report Details

A winter beach. The Stonefield parking lot is closed off though people move the barriers. The north part is the only sandy section, the rest is all cobbles and looks completely different than in the summer. A Bald Eagle flew by going south, and later back again. One new bird for our list was out in the water, a Common Loon. The rest were Harlequin Ducks, Surf Scoters, Song Sparrow, Brandt's and Double Crested Cormorants and a starling. The usual crows and gulls. There were 21 Harbor Seals out sunning on the rocks. A quiet lovely day.

The day was very foggy so we didn't expect to see many birds but were very surprised to see 18 species, which has only happened two other times since 2003.

A sunny, very windy day that brought out a lot of people to enjoy the beach, mostly staying in the first sandy area.
