Report Details
While long familiar with this beach this is the second time I have have surveyed for COASST and the first for CoastWatch. On our first visit, for COASST 06/03/12, we noted a sea worn fiberglass punt near the mouth of Big Creek, toward the North end of mile 182. We did not note specific markings on the punt and failed to contact any of the numbers we have now been provided for reporting. We picked up trash on both occasions; the first trip we filled a large kitchen trash bag, primarily with Styrofoam. this trip we filled the same bag only 1/4 full, again with Styrofoam, and with 5 drink bottles. We saw a couple of live brown pelicans, but little other wildlife. We did not see any people until our return, which was at nearly 11:00 and on the beach close to Washburn Park. I am looking forward to observing this beach, with different eyes, over time.
