A lot of people on the beach today backpacking, rock hounding, playing and picnicking on the beach. There was one large piece of fiberglass on the beach.

A lot of people on the beach today backpacking, rock hounding, playing and picnicking on the beach. There were a lot of rocks on the beach. There was one large piece of fiberglass on the beach. It appeared to be part of a boat wreckage. I reported this to a ranger who said he would get help to remove it from Roosevelt Beach.
Conditions
Temperature: 55 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light.

Number of people: 35. Number of dogs: 5. Walking or running: 35. Sitting: 35. Tidepooling: 10. Fishing: 1. Other Activities: 8 were rock hounding, one backpacker, 4 sitting on the sand.. One man and child running and that scared up some gulls. Not intentionally.

Disturbances: Shorebirds moving in response to humans/dogs

15 gulls at Big Creek.

Small rocks, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). One large piece of a broken boat. 8 ft by 3 ft of fiberglass with metal bolts.
Actions & Comments
I reported the large piece of fiberglass to a ranger at Carl Washburn State Park and he said he would get help and go get the debris.

The wrack line contained feathers, rocks, pieces of shells, a piece of rope, a piece of foam and a piece of a float. There is evidence of waves under cutting the bushes on the dune, retreat of the dunes and wave over topping.

The entry way to Muriel Ponsler has been enhanced by a load of gravel that was placed in the entry way ditch. There were a lot of sand filling in the beach which is usual in the summer.

The entry way to Carl Washburn heading towards China Creek was very slippery with mud and by the wind sailor jellyfish.

As I entered the beach and walked toward China creek I saw a dead common murre in the wrack line.
