Happy Earth Day! A cool, cloudy, breezy day with Gulls, Semipalmated Plovers, Western Sandpipers and Velella Velella on the beach. I always try to look for Western Snowy Plovers as part of the Plover Patrol, but I don't believe that this beach is part of that monitoring program. I'm also happy to say I didn't find one piece of trash to bag.

Notable Wildlife

Lots of Western Gulls today, hanging out in the swash amongst the By the Wind Sailor debris. Heading north from the entrance in the wet sand I counted 15 Semipalmated Plovers, 1 Crow and 2 Western Sandpipers. The Crow was not bothering the shore birds.

Small rocks, Shells, Animal casings or molts, Wood pieces, Other. Lots of Velella Velella still in the wrack, some still have their blue, while the rest are drying out and turning brown.
