In addition to the unusually large number of dead crabs, the beach wrack line had a lot of shrimp back scales and body parts mixed in.

In addition to the unusually large number of dead crabs, the beach wrack line had a lot of shrimp back scales and body parts mixed in. The surf and near off-shore water had an unusual brown tint to it, with reduced water clarity. the water flowing out of the Siuslaw was clear. We did have a rain event Saturday night.

Notable Wildlife
Large flock (100+) of juvenile gulls all standing together on the upper beach just south of the Driftwood Shores complex. Two osprey cruising the Siuslaw River North Jetty area.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Unusually large concentrations of almost intact dead Dungeness crabs scattered along Mile 171 in clusters of 5-10 or more. All were missing their top shell.

Huge stranding of brownish-red "Pacific Sea Nettle" (Chrysaora fuscescens) and Moon (Aurelia labiata) jellies all along Mile 171 and Mile 172 today.
