Report Details

Lots of driftwood and flood debris remains on this beach after winter storms. Many people have built makeshift forts out of this wood, especially just north of the the North Jetty. While creative and fun, these also seem to be an invitation for people to camp out, stay a while and build illegal fires on the beach. Saw a several people camped in one of the larger forts (well above the high water line)with an active driftwood fire going this evening. There is a lot of burned wood on this beach from previous fires. These structures could also collapse while people are in them--just a dangerous situation.
