The sand is back!
Report Details
The sand is back! There is a dramatic increase in the sand distribution on the upper beach area, particularily in "The Lagoon" area just north of the Siuslaw River North Jetty.The mystery shell photo I posted on 3/18/08 has been identified. Lloyd Maxfield, our website administrator, says the mystery shell is a ... (I'm not making this up)... "Green False-Jingle", a relative of the oyster.

Huge stranding of brownish-red "Pacific Sea Nettle" (Chrysaora fuscescens) and Moon (Aurelia labiata) jellies all along Mile 171 and Mile 172 today.
