A beautiful late year walk on the beach!
A beautiful late year walk on the beach! No other people or pets seen, very clean intertidal area. Soooo many sanderlings (approximately 500) - we've never seen so many at one time on our mile. They were very busy in low water line and not bothered by us walking by 20 - 25 feet away.
Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: 1.2 feet.
Saw no one on mile 151 or 152
Cars/trucks parking: 1.
Small clear and small brown jellies occasionally. Approximately 500 sanderlings busy in the surf line. Possibly a few snowy plovers. They weren't bothered by us walking by within 20-25 feet.
Total dead birds: 1. Too deteriorated to tell what it was or cause of death.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
At the entrance to the beach from Sparrow Park Rd (mile 151) there was cluster of large crab shells.
Seaweeds and seagrass.
Sand banked against the dunes as usual late in the year

All Mile 153 Reports
Very foggy start to the walk, by the time we left the beach it was clear at 10:49am.
A beautiful sunny, windy day for a walk on the beach. Disturbing to see that an ATV had driven from past the north of our mile down to the bottom 1/4 of our mile in the Plover Nesting Protection zone.
