Mile 153 - Oregon Dunes NRA, west of Threemile Lake - June 7, 2011

Report Details

A very pleasant quiet day for beach walk. Very few items in the intertidal zone. Some of the driftwood from last report washed away. No algae bloom, very few birds. Sand build up at dune face out about 15 feet to make a steeper beach.

Conditions

Temperature: 60 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 1.2 feet.

Vehicles

Cars/trucks parking: 1.

Notable Wildlife

3 seagulls all juveniles, 1 turkey vulture, beach clean - no seaweed.

Driftline Content

Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Shells, Small rocks. Several pieces of dimensional lumber at 1/2 way point

Natural Changes

Typical spring build up of sand at dune face.

Very foggy start to the walk, by the time we left the beach it was clear at 10:49am.

A beautiful sunny, windy day for a walk on the beach. Disturbing to see that an ATV had driven from past the north of our mile down to the bottom 1/4 of our mile in the Plover Nesting Protection zone.
