Beautiful day for being at the beach.2 weeks ago the beach was relatively clean except for driftwood and 1 metal float. This time there was a great deal of litter possibly from Japan. We collected the plastic and glass bottles & lite bulb covered in barnacles - deposited them at Honeyman State Park drop site.Lots of crab molts at the high tide line.

Temperature: 60 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: -2.5 feet.
Human Activities
There is camping at opening to the beach from Sparrow Park Rd, 3 sets of people camping.
Vehicles
Cars/trucks parking: 7. ATVs/OHVs parking: 3.
Notable Wildlife
At south end of mile there was a large flock of sanderlings and a few seagulls.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Crab molts and some whole crabs dead.
Driftline Content
Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Styrofoam, Wood pieces.
Actions & Comments
We collected 15 plastic water bottles that had Japanese markings &a very large light bulb, several larger possible food jars - all with heavy barnacle coverings.We did not collect the styrofoam chunks - too large & numerous to carry. Also did not collect pieces of small lumber covered with barnacles. Left bag with bottles & large lite bulbs at container at Honeyman State Park.

Very foggy start to the walk, by the time we left the beach it was clear at 10:49am.

A beautiful sunny, windy day for a walk on the beach. Disturbing to see that an ATV had driven from past the north of our mile down to the bottom 1/4 of our mile in the Plover Nesting Protection zone.
