The beach area appeared in typical condition for this time of year. Swept clean by recent storms and tides, the long, desolate beach and pounding surf makes us appreciate the beauty and power of nature! Flocks of gulls and pelicans resting together on beach. Land- and ocean-based debris and a small amount of miscellaneous debris at the mouth of Tenmile Creek. Low human impact (0).

Human Activities

Remote, hike in sections 139, 140 north of 10 Mile Creek in Coos County.People observed hiking on eastern edge of the dunes in vicinity of Lakeside. Most rarely hike out to Beach.

Notable Wildlife

Flocks of seagulls and brown pelicans resting on the beach together.

Driftline Content

Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). Small amount of misc. debris near mouth of 10 Mile Creek

Natural Changes

Appeared to be more beach grass (planted?) in the Snowy Plover Habitat (nesting) Area
