Mile 129 Report
Horsfall Beach on North Spit, directly west of Jordan Cove
April 24, 2010
Such a wonderful day at the beach.
Report Details
Such a wonderful day at the beach. After a walk to the farther end of our mile, we found the perfect sand drift to lounge on. We enjoyed reading in the sun and a snack. The beach is at about a 6 degree slope, and except for a few large pieces of plastic trash was remarkably clean. Walker/runners were ourselves(2)and our dog, a woman and her preteen son and leashed dog, a couple walking with their leashed dog, one woman walk/running alone. No dead critters. Lots of broken shells of the clam variety. A group of about 8 Whimbrels in the dry sand area. All active. No apparent nesters. Approx 10 Western Gulls, all in the splash line, most solo. One Turkey Vulture flew South along the dry sand area, making no stops.
Human Activities
Number of people: 9. Number of dogs: 3. Walking or running: 7. Sitting: 2. For such a glorious day, I was surprised that there weren't more vehicles in the parking lot, ATVs on the beach, and people out and about. Most people stay in mile 130, and don't venture down to 129.
