Beautiful, sunny and warm evening to walk a mile together for the Surf & Sun Walk & Run fundraiser and awareness campaign! Our walk started at the south jetty and none of us have visited this mile previously so it was a great experience at a new site! About halfway through the walk, there was a cool "white sand" patch about 25m long. A unique find for us was a beached juvenile bird, potentially a cormorant based on size and color, that looked like it died shortly after hatching. There was a lot of seaweed pieces, including eelgrass, bull kelp, and rockweed washed up in the wrack line. We collected marine debris along the walk and found some interesting items - including an earplug, fish-shaped fishing lure, and these interesting small, green "jelly balls" that had the consistency of fake salmon egg tackle. Grateful for the lovely company and this beautiful day.
