I was horrified to see some schmuck on a jet ski at the South Jetty this morning--doing his hazardous thing where at least one harbor seal was seeking breakfast on the incoming tide in the offshore shallows.

I was horrified to see some schmuck on a jet ski at the South Jetty this morning--doing his hazardous thing where at least one harbor seal was seeking breakfast on the incoming tide in the offshore shallows. My concern was for the marine mammals that normally fish the high tides coming in there. Of course, it was incredibly noisy for those of us who seek the zen peacefulness of the beach. This is a first for that stretch of coast in my 14 years walking there. I hope it is the last.

A calm, overcast morning of 55 drew 8 folks and 4 dogs to the beach at 7 a.

A chilly NW wind didn't deter 9 folks -- 5 rock hunting, the others walking -- from hitting the South Jetty beach on an overcast morning with a low tide of 0.

The northern half of this mile was engulfed by thick fog, but still attracted two other beach goers searching for agates.
