A harbor seal pup, half white and half gray, was resting on the Elephant Rock side of the rocky pass below Coquille Point minutes before 6 a.

A harbor seal pup, half white and half gray, was resting on the Elephant Rock side of the rocky pass below Coquille Point minutes before 6 a.m. close to low tide of 0.8 feet. There were several signs of haul-outs nearby, but the critters had gone into the sea before low tide. Another pup was on the wet sand at Elephant Rock a day earlier at about the same time. Both pups appeared healthy from a distance.
