Notable Wildlife

Beach area: Red-throated loon-1 (juvenile) in river mouth and caught a small fish, Brown pelican-1 (flying over surf), Raven-2, American crow-3. Behind beach: Wrentit-1, Golden-crowned kinglet-4, Ruby-crowned kinglet-1, Yellow-rumped warbler-1, White-crowned sparrow-2, Black-capped chickadee-1, Song sparrow-1.

New Development

State Park caution signs along trail to beach indicating work in progress but no impacts observed other than some minor brush removal near visitor center.

Natural Changes

River mouth channel flows straight to ocean. Last spring the river mouth channel turned south before entering the ocean (sand build-up?), Large driftwood scattered along beach.

45 People were enjoying the beach near the Visitor Center in the usual ways; walking, walking dogs (8), playing in the surf and shallows, beachcombing, sitting.
