May 24, 2025
Beach very clean as usual.
Report Details
Beach very clean as usual. Several driftwood shelters or remnants of shelters. Winchuck River flows almost directly straight to ocean. Lots of driftwood at mouth of Winchuck; lightly scattered high on beach south of river mouth. Patchy wrack consisting of seaweed and vegetation. Cobble on beach is mostly sparse till further south where it is more concentrated in patches. Beach is less sloped than my previous visits.

Human Activities
Number of people: 98. Number of dogs: 8. Walking or running: 78. Sitting: 10. Tidepooling: 7. Fishing: 3. Other Activities: A Medford school group (Hedrick Middle School) was the bulk of people on the beach. I counted 63 students and adults. They were all concentrated near the main beach entrance below the visitor center. Kids were mostly just milling around near a driftwood shelter and some were playing a ball game. A separate group of kids were playing softball on the beach.. Everyone behaving nicely. Most dogs on leash. Those that weren't on leash were unthreatening and staying close to their person. 90% of people staying close to main beach entrance.
