Summary:
A fine day to be on the beach, though almost nobody was. There were many washed-in clumps of fresh Nereocystis leutkeana. I saw more plastic nerdles than in several years. A landslide just south of Austin Creek had dumped an elaborate wooden stairway onto the beach, and the property owner above had posted ribbons at the top. Though no longer there, a large heavy steel plate (a ship's hold door?) earlier washed into the mouth of Arch Cape Creek. It bore many lepadomorph (stalked) barnacles, but they were too young to have been in the ocean long enough to have come from Japan.
