Mile 3008/18/19Sunday Morning6:30am - 9:00amThe surf was 3-4 feet waist to chest high. The scent of beach fire was notable.There was evidence of human beach activity prior to my arrival - 6 sand castles, 4 large holes in the sand, misc. clothing and some trash.Tide pool sightings included 1 sea star impaled with a feather and a sea star being consumed by a gull. Photos attached.

Notable Wildlife

Star Fish (echinoderms) abundant in tide pools located south of Neahkahnie Mountain. Evidence of Sea Star Wasting Syndrome. Photos attached. Seaweed (marine algae) abundant south of Neahkahnie Mountain. Gull sighted perched on a rock eating a star fish. Photo attached. Hawk flewover with prey. Crow foraging for food in gravel on Ocean Road. Juvenile Gull resting in the sand. High concentration of gull activity near tides pools.

Unusual concentration. Unsusal concentration of overturned star fish near tide pools.

More than 30 mid-sized, dead birds of what looked like the same species and one sea gull and one crow. Not too much sea plastic - I picked up some of it. Large burnt stumps and logs were rolling around in the high tide. Farther south, the ocean has removed the dune and some of the paths end in a sand cliff now.
