This was a beautiful sunny day. The beach is still very wide, sloping gradually down from the dunes with most of the wood covered and no wrack. Pelicans were working the water just offshore. There was one small set of shorebirds, and a few gulls. The beach had been cleaned that morning by the SOLV volunteers. But by late afternoon there were only 6 people walking on the beach. Three dogs were also there, but no horses. 20 vehicles were still in the parking lots, including RVs, trucks, and cars, some with boat trailers, that were probably overflow from the boat ramp parking lot. One vehicle track came down from the dunes onto the beach for a short way. Unfortunately there was a wreck of Common Murres, 30 found, with additional carcasses in the sand of 3 large immature Gulls, two crows, and a Pacific Loon.

A nice bright day with a large group of birders from 30 cars looking for Snowy Plovers when I started but only 13 people walking or sitting on the beach on my way back.
