November 26, 2011This was a cloudy but windless day. The sand has been pulled out, especially at the south end of the mile, with some steep gullies cutting through and some of the large high logs exposed. There was quite a bit of wrack made up mostly of small sticks, a few groups of shorebirds, but little human debris. Unfortunately we found 11 bird carcasses, mostly in the wrack or surfline, including four western grebes, three Rhinoceros Auklets, a Pigeon Guillamot, a large immature gull and a Common Murre. 13 people were walking the beach. Only 2 dogs, no horses and no vehicle tracks were seen.

A nice bright day with a large group of birders from 30 cars looking for Snowy Plovers when I started but only 13 people walking or sitting on the beach on my way back.
