Report Details

This was a cloudy but windless day, pleasantly warm for this time of year. The ocean was roiling which made for a dramatic scene. There was only one person walking on the beach and no dogs or horses evident. The sand covers the beach with a long slope to the ocean. Little wood is exposed. There is seaweed in the wrack at the northern end of the mile but nothing further south. Of note were a large number of small kelp holdfasts, some still attached to their rocks, dotting the beach. One carcass, possibly of a seal, and one large intact fish were spotted near the water line (pictures attached). Eight intact Northern Fulmars were found at the surfline. Tentative identification was made of a Cassin’s Auklet, a Pigeon Guillemot and an immature Gull as well.
