Report Details

This was a beautiful early morning with some clouds and little wind.  The beach is long and gradual, with the large amount of wood deposited there now pushed up further toward the dunes.  The sand has covered some of the wood but it is still a jumble of all sizes of logs.  There were still small casings at the wrack line, and the remains of the Velella on the sand.  Nine people were out walking or running on the beach, one with a dog.  The area has restrictions on activity above the high water line to encourage Snowy Plover nesting.  No plovers were visable but there was lots of chirps in the area where the plovers have been seen before.  No other shore birds or gulls were around either.  Two bird carcasses were recorded, one a common Murre and the other just a wing that looked like that of a hawk.  There was little human debris and no changes to the landscape.
