Report Details

What a special day to be at the coast...warm, calm, and a really clean beach. Just a smattering of left over 4th of July stuff...most debris was picked up near old camp fire sites. For the most part, our beach visitors are being very thoughtful. Observed lots of red jellyfish...some up to 12" dia. Most enjoyable were the seagulls bathing in Rock Creek and the dozens of pelicans cruising the waves. Super day! Had good attendance at the recent OPRD hearing regarding a riprap request in Rockaway Beach. Most of the people who spoke were opposed to this proposal for armoring properties that have no existing structures. No ruling will be made until mid October. Thanks to all who supported this effort.
