Report Details

There were a lot of people on the beach this morning in spite of the clouds, wind and threat of rain -- but it's the first weekend of spring vacation so there are more people in town. Too bad they missed the spectacular summer-like day we had on Friday -- unbelievably warm and sunny. My mile appears to have fared well through the mild winter with accretion of sand rather than erosion.

Conditions

Temperature: 52 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 0.5 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 60. Number of dogs: 16. Walking or running: 34. Playing in surf: 6. Playing in sand: 10. Other Activities: 3 flying kites, 4 playing soccer, 3 playing in creek. The SOLV Beach Clean-up was yesterday and there were many people out picking up trash. But, the beach was remarkably clean on the days leading up to the clean-up and most people involved in the clean-up ended up on the riprap and seemed to be collecting debris that had been lodged in between the boulders.
