It was a beautiful morning for a walk on Rockaway Beach!! There were many, many HUGE logs, branches, and limbs and lots of wood debris on the beach and riprap my whole mile. There are still areas of the riprap that appear to be in need of repair between NW 6th and 7th.There were signs posted on the beach giving notice to an application to make permanent the riprap that was installed a year ago between NW 12th and 10th - Application BA 653-09. Interested parties have until 2/26 to submit comments to the State of Oregon (Tony Stein).

New Development

Drainage pipes, Steps down bluff.

Natural Changes

Erosion of vegetated foredune, Evidence of wave overtopping, Visible retreat of solid bluff. lots of logs on the riprap and 4 mattress box springs exposed south of the wayside where they must have been placed and covered with sand and small rock years ago. The access road next to the church is inaccessible as the sand underneath has eroded.

I picked up the debris on my mile and deposited it in the garbage can at the wayside.
