Report Details

Lot's of small plastic debris littering the beach, but that's what you get after a big winter storm. Filled two large garbage bags and dragged up several long hunks of rope. Huge waves in the past week have done some damage to the fore dunes that built up in recent years, but the rip rap in Rockaway Beach is still holding it's own after 17 years now. The shoreline revetment project on the currently vacant lots (7800-8200) is now complete. OPRD ocean shores coordinator Jay Sennewald confirmed that the project was done in accordance with the permit issued and now awaits his final approval. The revetment remains completely obscured by the sand that was displaced during the project.
