Report Details

One hour before low tide, near Twin Rocks. Near tideline was a 45-foot-long tree, branches and roots long-since cut off. It was covered on one side, top to bottom, with live gooseneck barnacles. The barnacles at the root end of the tree were huge, some with 3" shells (capitulum?) and foot-long stalks (peduncle?). The feathery creatures were still active and emerging from the shells. Tiny, unattached larvae versions of the feathery creatures were actually running around over the bigger creatures.I've never seen gooseneck barnacles this big on any beach debris before. These were well established. Took the photos with my cell phone, sorry for poor quality.
