There was a notable shift in the sand to the north end of the cove north of Maxwell point.
Report Details
There was a notable shift in the sand to the north end of the cove north of Maxwell point. The shore by Maxwell point was eroded to bedrock and the exposed rocks at the north end of this cove had a buildup of sand around their bases. Three dead birds were found. One relatively fresh common murre and 2 fairly decomposed birds that had been tagged in December (a murre and a Cassin's auklet).A modest number of healthy starfish were seen on the rocks; previously empty after starfish wasting hit.

Notable Wildlife
Lots of stellar sea lions on rocks. A number of healthy starfish on rocks.
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 3. Two Common Murres, one re-found Cassin's Auklet originally tagged in Dec. One of the murres was also a refound tagged December bird.

Debris from landslide now cleared and tunnel is accessible again.

I'm filing this report because of the big landslide on the south end of the Oceanside Tunnel.

Landslide that occurred on Dec 5 has covered most of south entrance from Oceanside Beach to the manmade tunnel under Maxwell point.
