Cape KiwandaLooks in a lot better shape than last month's damage caused by the King Tides. The boat ramp has been repaired. The water runoff pipe has been resupported with sand and the barrier dunes look like they have been scrapped and the sand deposited (deliberately) below them. Still lots of human intenionally dropped litter ( doggie waste bags...3 instance of those) pop cans and such and a little bit of micro plastics observed in the drainage pipe area. The wood debris for most of all the beach has been cleared out by the tides. A flock of about 150 California Seagulls were resting between the surf and bare zones at the south end of the mile.I found 1 beached bird an Ancient Murrelet.

Temperature: 45 F. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 7.5 feet.

Litter

Apparent violations: Noticed about 3 doggie waste bags on the length of the mile. ^ instances of litter and a bit of microplastic waste at north end of mile..

Cars/trucks parking: 8.

Notable Wildlife

appx. 150 California gulls resting between surf and bare zones at south end of mile.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 1. Ancient Murrelet

Man-made Modifications

looks like some dune barriers were scraped and sand dumped at their feet to help with last month's king Tide damage.

Wow what a change from last month! State Parking lot is closed for a couple of months while construction on the new parking lot and restroom continues. The tree ( object I show as a measure of sand deposition ) is really getting uncovered! Survey also for COASST, no beached birds or mammals found. The beach access point at the north end of Bob Straub State Park is still unusable for vehicles, due to a massive erosion event and 5 foot sharp edges to the beach.

A lot of winter damage to the foredunes noted. Construction workers working on the new boat ramp and replacing and relocating some drainage pipes. Photos showing bulldozer shift sand by residence. 1 dory and 3 fishermen getting picked up
