Man-made Modifications

Stream modification. All modifications for repairs and drainage appear to be sand only

Natural Changes

Erosion of vegetated foredune. North of boat ramp evidence if increased sluffing of dune below the condos. The mile portion south of the boat ramp appears to be filling in with wind blown sand. No mechanical sand excavating is apparent. Beach grass is growing.

Actions & Comments

End of boat ramp is very steep with a trench where wave erosion has created a deep dip.  Dorys are keeping to the north side of the ramp.  It appears that sand has been moved to this side to improve beach access.  The sand is very soft and deep ruts are visible.

Wow what a change from last month! State Parking lot is closed for a couple of months while construction on the new parking lot and restroom continues. The tree ( object I show as a measure of sand deposition ) is really getting uncovered! Survey also for COASST, no beached birds or mammals found. The beach access point at the north end of Bob Straub State Park is still unusable for vehicles, due to a massive erosion event and 5 foot sharp edges to the beach.
